Do you want to grow your Instagram account or page?
Or you want to start on Instagram, and you don’t know how?
You see all these big pages with thousand and millions of followers, and you want to be there.
When I started my Instagram page 18 months ago, I had the same dream as well.
I started on Instagram Back at the end of 2018. I watched a YouTube video, just a random video, of someone who talks about the power of Instagram, and how much he makes every month from his page.
His page was @calories.hub (Now it’s over 1.9M followers). And the most motivating thing was when he said, “I get an offer to sell page for $150k,” that was insane. And I was like, ” What, no way, no one is gonna pay that much for an Instagram account.”
But I realized that they could make more with that page if they use it for selling products and shout-outs. Then I decided to take action and start my page to make money. I was super motivated. ( We’re talking about money here)
And here we are, I have grown my page (@ssweetrecipes) to over 100k followers organically. And now, I’m growing 700 to 1,200 followers a day.
So in this post, I will tell you what I did to get 100k Instagram followers in 18 months, and what are the steps you need to grow your Instagram account organically in 2020.
Here’s the tips you’ll need to grow your Instagram account organically:
- Be Patient
- Keep People On Instagram
- Create Good Quality Instagram Content
- Use The Right Hashtags
- Use Instagram Stories To Grow Your Audience
- Use Call To Action
- How To Get Your First 1,000 Followers?
TIP #1 BE PATIENT
You need to be patient to grow an Instagram account organically.
Most people think that they’re going to start something, whether they start a blog, business, Instagram page, work out, whatever it is. And they expect to get the results quickly. That’s not how it works.
Patient is the most important thing you should have when you don’t have money to spend, right?
Whatever it is you do, don’t let the numbers stop you. When you start on Instagram, you’re probably not going to see those big numbers in the first or the second month.
When I just started, I didn’t lose my passion even though I had 200 followers in that first month, and I barely get 10 to 20 likes by post. I was able to proceed and move forward. I was searching every day on YouTube, Google, and Udemy for information and strategies to grow my Instagram page. My YouTube feed was full of those Instagram videos, where everyone is talking about Instagram tips. I was obsessed with that topic.
But after another month, I was able to see some results, and then after three months, I get to 1,000 followers. I remember that day I was so happy. And finally, I get to 10k in the summer of 2019. It felt great for me that day. You Know, 10k is the number that most people want to see in his profile.
By far, I have made it to 100k followers, and I’m growing 700 to 1,200 followers a day. And I’m going to teach you how to do it as well.
We all know that Instagram is complicated. Algorithm Changes every time, engagement drops, shadowban, action block. I think you might hear about these staff before. That makes people think it’s impossible to grow on Instagram organically in 2020.
But with my experience, I’m sure that it is still possible, and you can do it if you implement these steps.
TIP #2. KEEP PEOPLE ON INSTAGRAM
Now, all the social platforms want to keep people on the platform, so that they can earn more money through advertisements.
So if you can keep people on the platform, Instagram is going to reward you for that.
YOU’RE PROBABLY WONDERING, HOW CAN I DO THAT? AND WHAT THIS MEANS?
You should have great content that attracts people and keep them spend more time on Instagram, what does that mean? When it comes to creating an Instagram post, it has to be a good quality Images/videos, and this is going to give people a reason to like and comment on your post. And the most important thing is the shares. When people share your Instagram post it’s more likely to go viral, why?
When people share your post, that means more people are going to open Instagram to see your Instagram post that they received in DM’s. More people on Instagram more money for Instagram. You’re helping them to grow and make more money, so they will reward you by showing your image/video on the explorer page.
Instagram depends on engagement to define the post that’s going to rank on hashtags and go to explore page, which means more followers and more likes and comments.
TIP #3. CREATE GOOD QUALITY INSTAGRAM POSTS
When you’re just starting, you can’t know how to create good quality content.
The first thing you want to be doing to you know work out what is great content, is you want to let the numbers decide.
Whenever you’re at with your Instagram account, go to a competitor’s page. Go to an influencers page, go to someone’s page that you think they’re doing a great job with their content. And have a look at that page and see what kind of engagement are they getting? Like, how many likes and comments are they getting?
Have a look at those accounts. Get an average of what the most engaging photo is a delight the past 15. And why is that doing so well? Like, why did it get so many comments?
And start to build out a little bit of a roadmap, build out that repertoire of what good content looks like for the industry you want to serve.
HOW TO CREATE THIS GOOD QUALITY INSTAGRAM POSTS?
Now, once you know what that good content looks like by studying other people or brands in your space, then you want to go out and replicate that. There’s quite a different kind of content. there are videos, so the kind of videos that works very well, what we call “meme videos.”
For example, Garyvee he’s doing meme videos all the time, and he gets really good engagement.
So one thing when it comes to posting great quality content is using a form of videos, but let’s say, for example, you don’t want to do a meme video or you can’t. Then the key takeaways are you want to be providing value if you can. You want to make it funny or you want to make it interesting. It’s just gotta incite something. It can’t be like something that’s not going to provide any value, that people will not care about it.
TIP #4. USE THE RIGHT HASHTAGS
Hashtags are the key to grow on Instagram. If you use the right hashtags and your post ranked on those hashtags, it will go to the explorer page and get more likes, comments, shares. And this means more profile visits and more followers.
SO, HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT HASHTAGS FOR YOUR CONTENT?
You can simply do a hashtags research on the Instagram platform itself, just pick the topic of the post and search on it in the search bar of Instagram, click on hashtags, so it will give hashtags around that topic that people use.
Then pick your hashtags carefully, I don’t want you to use big hashtags in the beginning when you don’t have engagement, use small hashtags with 5k to 50k followers first because the chance to rank on those hashtags is high.
The amount of hashtags you can use per post is 30 hashtags, but I highly recommend to stay on 25, so that you don’t risk your account and don’t get shadowban.
After you found the perfect hashtags for your content you need to rank on those hashtags, so you’re probably asking:
HOW CAN I GET MY POST RANK ON HASHTAGS
The key to rank on hashtags is engagement, Instagram wants to know if your post is good enough, if people like it and spend more time on the platform because of it.
And the most important period is the first 30 minutes. If your post gets a good amount of engagements in the first 30 minutes, the robots of Instagram will notice that and push it more to the top posts on hashtags. Then if it gets more likes, comments, and shares, Instagram will push your post to the explorer page. That’s what we want, right?
So you’re saying, “I just started, I have no followers, how I will get engagement in the first 30 minutes?” I get you here.
There’s something called engagement groups. These groups are Telegram groups where Instagram creators sharing their content with others, and they engage with each other. This way everyone is happy.
You can get great results from those groups. All you have to do is go Google “Instagram engagement groups,” you’ll find a bunch of groups, create a Telegram account and join those groups (Don’t leach, they will kick you out).
Another way to get engagement on your posts is to engage with your followers before you post. Take an hour before you’re posting and go to your followers like their photos, comment, let them know that you care, and you’re here for them.
TIP #5. USE INSTAGRAM STORIES TO GROW YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT
Instagram stories is a great way to connect with your followers. You can share your daily activities on your Instagram stories and let people know what you’re doing in your day, what you made for dinner? How you work out? When you take your lovely dog for a walk. All this stuff makes people want to connect with you, and you build this trust with them.
At the same time, you should make your stories valuable and share some great stuff that helps your followers.
For example, let’s say you’re a mom and you have kids, you can share how to prepare a meal for your son/daughter in five minutes, how to make your baby sleep, anything you know that’s going to help your audience in their daily life.
Now, if you look at the Instagram explorer page, you’ll see featured stories there.
SO HOW CAN YOU GET YOUR STORY GO TO THE EXPLORER PAGE?
It works the same as Instagram posts. You should use hashtags in your stories as well. The more views and shares you get on your Instagram stories, the more likely it is going to be featured on the explorer page.
So make sure you share good quality Instagram stories to get more shares and views.
TIP #6. USE CALL TO ACTION IN YOUR CAPTIONS
Captions are the words that describe your post, you give people an idea of what is about your post, and you tell them what to do. And here is the thing, if you don’t tell people what to do, most likely they’re not going to do anything with your post, they just going to like it and pass.
Ask questions, tell them to answer these questions in the comments, ask them to visit your profile if you have a valuable link, ask to watch your story. It’s easy, and people love to see what you have to give.
For example, I share recipes on my Instagram page, so whenever I shared a new Instagram post, I write engaging captions telling my followers that the recipe link is in my bio and my Instagram story. This way, people will visit my profile and click on my website or my stories for the recipe.
Whenever someone visits my profile is most likely going to follow me because I provide value.
You can implement this strategy as well if you have a food page, don’t post the recipes in the captions, nether post them on your blog, and if you don’t have one, make infographics and post them on your stories. That way, you’re giving people a good reason to visit your profile.
TIP #7. HOW TO GROW YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT TO 1,000 FOLLOWERS IN 2020
Now, after we’ve known how to create good quality content for Instagram, and how to use hashtags and call to action, we need followers to engage with that content, right?
So here are the four steps that I highly recommend to do if you just started.
1. SET UP YOUR BIO THE RIGHT WAY
Make sure that your bio looks amazing and organized, don’t make your bio full of emojis, try to give people a clear message of who you are? What they’re going to get if they follow you?
2. ENGAGE WITH OTHERS
Try to engage with other people in your niche, start conversations, like and comment on their posts (meaning comment, not emojis). So they will notice you, and they will start connecting with you, and if they loved your content, they’re going to share it with their followers. This way, you’ll get more attention to your profile.
3. BE CONSISTENT
You have to keep posting consistently to get people trust, and a higher chance to rank on hashtags.
4 POST THE RIGHT CONTENT FOR YOUR AUDIENCE
Post the content interesting to your audience. That way, you guaranty they’re going to like it, comment, and share it.
Before you do this, you need to fill up your feed with content, at least nine posts, so that your feed is not going to look empty.
And unfortunately, “Follow Unfollow” method it’s not working as it was two years ago, but I’m sure that’s it is still working. So if you want to use it to grow your Instagram account, it’s okay, but don’t go crazy and start following a bunch of accounts and unfollow them on the same day. It doesn’t work like that anymore. (Make sure to follow at max 50 a day) And after you reach 500 followers, stop it.
